Winejobs Report: Winery Hiring Increases in May 2017

Just received the latest from Winejobs about winery hiring patterns.  Posts were up 16% from the same time last year, and 7% year-to-date.  DTC, tasting room and retail jobs had the most growth year to year at 17%, up 4% year-to-date.  Winemaking increased 16 percent from last year, 22% year-to-date.  Sales and marketing were also up, 4% from the same time last year.  The postings for sales and marketing are down 5% year-to-date however.

WineTalent is working with our confidential client to recruit a DTC Manager for multiple brands in Sonoma County.  This position is an excellent opportunity to manage DTC for multiple luxury brands with diverse brand images.  Interacting closely with the company�s upper management, this position is a key strategic leader of the consumer�s experience with distinct wine brands.  This role will closely manage DTC staff members at multiple locations. 

POSITION SUMMARY:? The DTC Manager will proactively manage all aspects of the direct-to-consumer sales activities at the physical locations of the wine brands and responsible for P&L management .  The DTC Manager will develop a team that promotes the wine brands and creates memorable guest experiences.  This person will establish and maintain high standards of performance in all areas including hospitality, tasting room, wine club and direct sales.  The DTC Manager will oversee events and maintain excellent retailing both in the tasting room and online.  The DTC Manager is also responsible for managing the business to sales and budget goals.  ?

QUALIFICATIONS:  

• �      Proven leadership skills in winery direct-to-consumer roles.
• �      Five or more years of relevant managerial experience.
• �      Bachelor�s degree in marketing, communication, hospitality, or related preferred.  College coursework in those areas also highly desirable.
• �      Able to work as needed including evenings and weekends.
